Smarthinking Online Tutoring

Welcome to the Barton College Smarthinking Tool

What is Smarthinking?

  • Smarthinking is our online tutoring service at Barton. Every Barton student has his or her own personal account.  Smarthinking allows you to tutor 24/7.  It provides the ability to schedule a tutor in the subjects of math, science, Spanish, nursing, business, writing, career writing and interviewing, and computers and technology.  You can schedule a session 24 hours in advance.  Or, you can engage in a drop-in session.  Additionally, you have the option to do an offline session (more protracted tutoring) which enables you to ask a question and return at a later time to continue exchanges with the tutor.

What should I know about using Smarthinking?

  • Smarthinking has a writing center and the ability to have career help in addition to class supports.  There are study aids available that include digital support and supplemental videos.  Feel free to come by the Office of Academic and Career Planning if you have trouble using or accessing  your account.

How do I access Smarthinking?

  • Smarthinking is accessible by clicking on the link below.
  • You may access it from your Canvas courses where you will find it in the navigation bar on the left side of the page inside your course.
  • Finally, you may go to Campus Connect. Click on the Academic Info tab and scroll to where it says "Click here to access Smarthinking."  Once you are in Smarthinking, you have the opportunity to download an app.  Feel free to download it as it is free to you but not required of you.  Be sure to enable pop-ups on the computer you are using. You will not be able to access it without the pop-ups enabled.
