Searching for Grad School Programs--A Multi-Step Process

When searching for graduate programs, follow the steps below:

Use online graduate program directories, like the ones in the middle box to the right, to find out what schools offer programs in your area of interest and location. These listings will give you brief information about that school's graduate program(s).
If you already know a specific school has the program you're exploring, then go to step 3.
To find out more specific information about each school's program, you will likely need to go to the school's specific web site and search for that degree. If the web address is not given in the online directories, you will need to do a web search to find the school, then search its web site for the degree program.

Explore some of the more popular graduate degrees by clicking on the broad subjects on the lower left of the page, or on the right sidebar, choose 1) a state (click on the map); 2) a major (in the drop-down menu); and 3) master's, then click "Find a Graduate School." The next screen will show you schools that match your chosen criteria. Click on the link(s) to schools of interest for more information on each school/degree program. You may need to contact the individual schools for more explicit information about timelines, careers available upon graduation, etc., so search for that program on the web by going to the university's web site and searching the site for particulars about that specific program.

Search for graduate schools by either clicking on the "Browse by Subject" or the "Browse by Type" links located in the gray banner across at the top of the screen. (For a much more customized, and more personally intrusive, approach, you can also make selections in the the "Area of Interest" and "Subject" dropdowns and click the "Get Matched" button, answering all the questions to get your "match.") Click on the school names to get more information about each program, or click "Request Info" to send a request to the individual school in question.
