Chemistry Scholarly Journal Databases

  • Continental Europe Database Recommended
This database provides ongoing full-text academic journals that are locally published by scholarly publishing organizations and educational institutions in many European countries, including France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal. Major subject areas of study are represented, including business, science, technology, engineering, social sciences, education, and humanities.
  • GreenFILE Recommended
GreenFILE is a free research database covering the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and governments and what can be done at each level to minimize negative impacts. It provides thousands of open access full-text records from scholarly, government and general interest sources.
  • PubMed Recommended
PubMed is one of the largest indexes to medical information and is used heavily by doctors and other health professionals. It indexes 3,500+ journals published internationally. The articles indexed tend to be very technical and are not in full text. Some of the journals covered are available in the library or in full text through other databases.
  • Science Database Recommended
This database is a definitive resource for students studying both the applied and general sciences. With coverage dating back to 1986, ProQuest Science Journals features over 1030 titles, with more than 760 available in full text. Search over 2.7M records, dating back to the mid 1980s.
  • Science Magazine Recommended
Science is a leading outlet for scientific news, commentary, and cutting-edge research. Through its print and online incarnations, Science reaches an estimated worldwide readership of more than one million. Science’s authorship is global too, and its articles consistently rank among the world's most cited research.

Science serves as a forum for discussion of important issues related to the advancement of science by publishing material on which a consensus has been reached as well as including the presentation of minority or conflicting points of view. Accordingly, all articles published in Science—including editorials, news and comment, and book reviews—are signed and reflect the individual views of the authors and not official points of view adopted by AAAS (The American Association for the Advancement of Science) or the institutions with which the authors are affiliated.
  • Agricultural & Environmental Science Collection
A definitive resource for students studying the scientific disciplines involved in understanding and managing the interrelationships of the natural environment. This collection will help students, faculty and researchers identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and help to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.
  • Health & Medical Collection
ProQuest Health & Medical Collection combines the clinical research titles available in ProQuest Medical Library with hundreds of additional consumer and health administration titles. ProQuest Health & Medical Collection provides in-depth coverage from over 1,500 publications with almost 1,300 available in full text and of these, over 900 include MEDLINE indexing. In addition, the database includes all charts, diagrams, graphs, tables, photos, and other graphical elements essential to medical research. Subjects includes: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, immunology, parasitology, pathology, diseases (communicable, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, respiratory, hemic, lymphatic, digestive, urogenital, and endocrine), nervous system, psychiatry, surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, dermatology, pediatrics, geriatrics, dentistry, otolaryngology, ophthalmology.
  • JSTOR (Archival: Arts & Sciences I, II, III, & IV Collections)
These collections of full-text journals (from the first issue through an average of 3-5 years prior to the current issue--*recent issues are not available*) cover the following disciplines: art, archaeology, architecture, Asian studies, business, classics, economics, education, film studies, folklore, history, law, music, performing arts, political science, psychology, public policy and administration, sociology, and religion. From a common search screen, all collections may be searched simultaneously, from the full text of the articles to the title, author, abstract, caption, and publication dates, etc.
  • MedlinePlus
MEDLINEplus provides information helpful to both medical professionals and consumers. Not only can you access MEDLINE (including links to pre-formulated searches in MEDLINE on particular topics) via MEDLINEplus, but you can also link to other authoritative health resources such as medical encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories to doctors/dentists/hospitals, news sources, and clinical trials. Also available is extensive information on both prescription and non-prescription drugs through the MedMaster (from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists--ASHP) database.
  • MedlinePlus Biodefense and Bioterrorism
This site, which is maintained by the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, gives an overview of issues relating to biodefense and bioterrorism, including an overview section, plus sections specific conditions, related issues, clinical trials, research, research articles, organizations, and law and policy.
