Library Technology Classroom & Other Study Rooms

Hackney Library has many rooms available for group meetings and individual study. Anyone can use the rooms, however, reservations are limited to faculty, official student organizations, and tutoring.

Library Technology Classroom (1st floor)

Library Technology ClassroomHackney Library's technology classroom is outfitted with instructional technology thanks to a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant and matching funds from the Friends of Hackney Library organization. 

  • interactive Promethean ActivBoard;
  • ActivExpress interactive voting technology;
  • Computer with a wireless mouse and keyboard

The classroom can be reserved by faculty and staff for class presentations, interactive instruction, and library instruction. Student are welcome to use the room when not reserved. Student tutors should contact the reference desk (252-399-6502, or for special request if tutoring large groups.

Capacity: 20-25 Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the room capacity is limited to 9 people seated and one speaker.

These rooms are temporarily closed.

Small Group Study Rooms (2nd floor)

These rooms are ideal for small groups and one-on-one tutoring.

They have blackboards, and chalk is available at the circulation desk. Both rooms are equipped with A/V stations, allowing users to play VHS or DVDs.
