GEN 300: General Guide

This theme-based interdisciplinary course provides students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge and perspectives that they have acquired while completing the General Education Core.

  • Getting Started  This page gives you some tips on how to begin your research, develop a viable topic, suggested databases for information sources, etc.
  • Creating a Research Plan helps you plan what terms to use when searching databases to find relevant sources (books, articles, etc.) on your topic.
  • Finding E-books gives you directions on how to search for e-books within the library's catalog as well as from within the e-book databases where those electronic books reside.
  • Finding Magazine, Journal, and Newspaper Article Databases provides step-by-step tips for searching databases, as well as links to tutorials to individual databases.
  • Evaluating Websites for Academic Assignments gives you tips for evaluating whether particular web sites are appropriate for academic assignments.
